I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist of over twenty five years experience. I have worked both in private practice and in mental health services treating a broad variety of psychological conditions. I present training courses on communication, stress, team communication, life change and run a training consultancy service. As a Registered Clinical Psychologist, I have been trained in identifying psychological conditions. I have extensive experience in treating and resolving problems such as stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, life change, life trauma, sexual abuse and low mood conditions. I focus on understanding each individual’s unique needs and personality and apply customised treatments that best suit those needs. I have a strong interest in couple and family relationships and I have presented courses on relationship and parenting skills. I am a Family Court counsellor and do assessments for the Family Court. I am also an ACC registered counsellor for sensitive claims. I regularly work with people going through life change and transitions at various stages of their lives. I assist people to discover their direction when they have become somewhat stuck, confused or lost. I assist people get out of the “analysis paralysis” that is common when people are faced with difficult changes.
I believe it is important to develop a comfortable, relaxed and professional trusting relationship with clients. I work in a consultative manner and encourage communication about matters that affect treatment. I develop treatment plans and goals in conjunction with clients and review progress on a regular basis. I guide clients towards discovering their personal potential and empower them to develop pragmatic problem–solving strategies.
